Dhiraagu has said that the vessel to repair the damaged submarine cable can only depart to the location on Tuesday.
Dhiraagu Marketing and PR Executive Ibrahim Imjad Jaleel said today that due to some difficulties, the vessel can only depart on 24 April and reach the location on 25 April:
“Earlier we received information that the vessel would depart yesterday. But due to some difficulties such as the lack of permits, the vessel will only depart on 24 April.”
The vessel is currently located at Cochin, India.
Dhiraagu internet service was disrupted when their submarine cable located about 26km off Sri Lanka and at a depth of 40m was damaged two nights ago. They had earlier stated that it would take about four days to repair the cable.
Dhiraagu believes that the cable was probably damaged by a ship’s anchor. Currently their internet service is provided via diversity routes, and priority is given to browsing and email service.
