Government has bought equipment for health sector worth $900,000 (MVR 13.8 million) in association with State Trading Organization (STO). This is a part of the government project worth $4,000,000 (MVR 61.7 million) of buying bio-medical equipment for Health Centers and Hospitals in association with STO.
STO has handed over bio-medical equipment to the government in an event held on Saturday at Nasandhura Palace Hotel. Managing Director (MD) of STO Adam Azim has handed over the equipment to the acting Health Minister Colonel Retired Mohamed Nazim.
Different types of 1,500 equipment were handed over on Saturday, which is one third of the equipment included in the whole project.
Minister of State for Health Hussain Raheed said that equipment that has been received on Saturday from STO were essential equipment to the Health Centers run under that Ministry. According to Hussain, 66 patient monitor, 147 ECG machines, 26 Defibrillators and 126 While Sign Monitors were included in the equipment handed over on Saturday.
Health Ministry said that equipment received by STO would be sent to Hospitals at atolls in a near future.
