Father arrested for sexually abusing and threatening daughter

The Maldives Police Service has reported that a father had been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his daughter and then threatening her with death if she revealed what had been done to her.

The girl, aged 16, had been continuously abused sexually by the father, who was arrested last night around 23:30 hrs. under a court warrant.

The police said that their findings until now suggested that the child had been sexually molested since she was 9, forcefully by her father.

For the interests of the child, the police refused to reveal personal identification of the suspect.
