The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has warned that bad weather will be experienced across the country over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office Spokesperson said that heavy rains and thunder would be experienced in northern and central Maldives and strong winds would be experienced in southern atolls, due to the transition of the seasons, from wet to dry season.
He said that in the south, north-westerly winds would be experienced between 13 and 20 miles per hour; while in other regions, north-easterly winds would be experienced between 8 to 18 miles per hour. Winds are expected to pick up to 40 miles per hour during rainstorms.
Seas are expected to be rough across the country.
The authority has issued a White Alert from 10:00 a.m. today until 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, and advised to take necessary precaution when travelling during this period.
