Saudi donor gives $1 million to water fund

A Saudi Arabian donor has provided $1 million to the Male’ Water Crisis Management Fund.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said on Twitter today, that $1 million donated by a Saudi well-wisher following the water crisis has been handed over to the Ministry of Finance.

Other donations to the Male’ Water Crisis Management Fund include $100,000 each by Chairman of Universal Enterprises Mohamed Umar Manik, Champa Brothers, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), and Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC); and $200,000 each by Ooredoo and Batelco.
