Hitachi to donate MVR 1 million to Male

The President’s Office has said that it has been announced by Executive Vice President and Executive Officer of Asia Pacific of Hitachi Limited, Junzo Najazima, that the company would donate MVR 1 million to the Male’ Water Crisis Management Fund.

The announcement came during a meeting between Junzo Najazima and President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the President’s Office on Monday morning.

Junzo Najazima is visiting the Maldives as part of the Hitachi expert team to inspect the damage caused to the generator units during the fire that broke out at the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) on December.

The President’s Office said that discussions at the meeting were focused on the recovery efforts being undertaken by the MWSC to replace the damaged panel boards and revive the water system, and that President Yameen underscored the government’s commitment to finding a total solution to the issue, and establishing a fallback system for future emergencies.

President Yameen extended his appreciation to the Hitachi Company for its generous contribution to the fund. He also expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Japan, for their continued support and assistance to the Maldives in times of need.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon and Minister of Defence and National Security Mohamed Nazim.

Junzo Najazima was joined the call by Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Nobuhito Hobo.
