Detention extended for drug suspect in boat accident

The 67-year-old boat driver who tested positive for drugs after an accident yesterday, has been given additional days of detention by the Noonu Fohdhoo Magistrate Court.

The police said that the court remanded the suspect in custody for an additional 15 days last night.

A 78-year-old man died, while a 77-year-old man suffered a broken shoulder in the accident involving two fishing boats off Noonu Velidhoo on Tuesday morning.

The smaller boat was damaged on one side, while the larger one did not suffer any damage in the accident.
