Man falls and dies on fishing boat

A man has died after falling into the bait compartment of a fishing boat off Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo.

Thinadhoo Council Member Abdulla Saneef told Sun Online that the incident took place yesterday afternoon, and the deceased has been identified as Mohamed Aslam, 35.

Saneef said that the boat, called Kalhirava, is about 100-ft long, and according to the crew, the incident took place when Aslam went down to collect bait. He was found unconscious moments later.

Aslam was taken to Fuvahmulah Hospital by the boat crew.

Thinadhoo Council cited the hospital and said that Aslam was dead when he arrived at the hospital.
