Japan donates JPY 100 million following water crisis

The government of Japan has donated JPY 100 million ($843,060) to the Maldives following the water crisis sparked by a fire at the Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

The agreement in this regard was signed at a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, by Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon and Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary Nobuhito Hobo.

After signing the agreement, Dunya thanked the Japanese government on behalf of the Maldivian government and people, for its generous aid to the Maldives.

Japan has provided aid worth over $221 billion to 185 countries under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program, established 60 years ago.
