Committee approves bill that prohibits civil servants to be in posts of political parties

Committee has approved bill that prohibits employees of Civil Service to perform in any post of a political party sent by the government without any change.

Bill that was presented by Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik, MP of Maduvvari has been approved as presented with the majority of the committee members when the bill was sent to the committee for evaluation.

It was stated in the report that Civil Service Commission, Human Rights’ Commission and Tribunal have been discussed during evaluation of the bill.

According to the bill presented by PM Ameeth Ahmed Manik, Civil Servants can participate in political activities, however, they cannot fulfill any post of a political party, form political parties or run them and Civil Servants should be free from any political activities in official hours.
