Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) calls opposition parties not to obstruct the effort of government in developing Maldives.

In a news conference held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel to provide information on the special ceremony which will be held on 20 November 2014 evening on the occasion of government’s first anniversary, Minister of Fisheries Dr. Mohamed Shainee said that opposition parties obstruct the efforts for the development and progress of Maldives, which affects the entire country.

Fisheries Minister said that opposition Leader and the former president Mohamed Nasheed interfered when government started search for oil in the Maldivian territory.

Minister highlighted that Maldives has not progressed any further in the past five years due to the “political storm” in the country. He stressed on the effort made by the present government in developing the country and noted that it was an irresponsible performance to act as an obstacle to these efforts by opposition leader Mohamed Nasheed who was also a former president of the country.
