Minister Adeeb: Auditor General issued a political Audit Report

Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb said that Auditor General Niyaz Ibrahim has released a political Audit Report regarding him.

“Thank you Auditor General for the political report!” Minister Adeeb posted from his formal twitter account on Thursday evening.

In the tweet, he stated sarcastically that it was easy to blame him if anything went wrong in this country.

In the special Audit Report released by the Auditor General's Office, it was noted that Tourism Minister Adeeb tried to provide benefit to a particular group in buying $5 million (MVR77.1 million) for Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) through Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and that a loan of $1 million was given through MMPRC to a company in which Minister Adeeb’s family has stake.

According to the Audit Report, documentary records to support Minister Adeeb having emphasized to carry out these transactions were evident, and the $1 million loan was given to a company which has links with Minister Adeeb’s family.
