Speeding car crashes into shop on Majeedee Magu

A speeding car has lost control and crashed into Fahamas, a shop on Majeedee Magu; after turning into Majeedee Magu from Shariu Varudhee Goalhi in Maafannu.

Police said that two people have been arrested on suspicion of having been behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

The accident was reported to police at 6:44 a.m., following which Traffic Police officers went to the scene and arrested the two men, both Maldivian, aged 18 and 21.

Police said that the 21-year-old suspect has criminal record for using sharp weapons and drug crimes, while the 18-year-old suspect has criminal record for causing damage to public property.

Three parked motorcycles were damaged beyond use in the accident, as they were dragged into the shop with the car. Serious damage was also caused to three additional motorcycles parked in the area.

The accident also caused serious damage to Fahamas building, as well as several goods on sale in the shop.
