Veymandoo is an exemplary island for agriculture: President Waheed

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that if farmers see Veymandoo as an exemplary island for agricultural production, Maldives will be able to meet the local needs in terms of food security and nutrition.

The President said that Maldivians are blessed to be able to grow breadfruit, starchy staples, and other items in their beautiful islands, and this is obvious in Veymandoo.

Referring to the challenges faced by the country in terms of health, the President said the irresponsible interventions in the management of the health system such as assigning health workers under island councils had left health workers with no proper supervision.

President Waheed also laid the foundation stone of Veymandoo preschool during his visit to Veymandoo.
