Investigation into arrest of Judge Abdullah completed, case submitted to PG

The case requesting the prosecution of the people responsible for the arrest of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed (Judge Abdullah) by former President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration has been submitted to Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office.

A Police Media Official said that the case was submitted at 09:30 today. He did not indicate the people against whom charges will be pressed in relation to this case.

“We have submitted the case to PG, following completion of all the necessary Police investigation into the case,” the official said.

Security forces took Judge Abdullah into custody on 16 January while he was at home.

Parties in the current coalition government held series of protests against the detainment of Judge Abdullah in Girifushi.

He was released after 22 days in custody, on the day of resignation of former President Nasheed.
