Escaped prisoner Shahum arrested

Ibrahim Shahum, G. Cosy, Male', who escaped from Maafushi prison on Friday night, has been arrested.

The police spokesperson told Sun Online that Shahum was arrested during a joint operation by the Police SWAT team, Police Intelligence, Traffic Police, and officers of the Central Operations Command; in Male’.

He said that Shahum was arrested in a guest-house on Maaveyo Magu, and that only police officers were involved in the operation.

Eyewitnesses have told Sun Online that Shahum was arrested by a large team of masked police officers. According to one eyewitness, sounds similar to two gunshots were heard during the arrest.
