Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said today that several amendments have to be brought to criminal justice system of Maldives.
In a tweet on his official Twitter account, Vice President said that several amendments have to be brought to the criminal justice system, and that the present government gives more priority to this issue that than any previous government.

Vice President appealed to put away the political differences in resolving such issues.
During a time of anxiety in the community due to the two dangerous convicts having escaped from Maafushi prison, Vice President said, “government will tirelessly continue to put effort to ensure safety and protection for everyone”.
He said that actions are being taken to improve and strengthen Maldives prison system.
Two dangerous criminals Ibrahim Shahum Adam of G. Cosy, Male’, and Fariyash Ahmed of Javaahiruvaadhee, Gaafu Alifu Maamendhoo, who were serving life sentences, escaped from Maafushi prison through air vents on Friday night. Out of them, Fariyash has been found and apprehended today.
