Search operation launched for missing fishing boat

Coast Guard has commenced a search operation for a missing yellow-fin tuna fishing boat.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that after not receiving any news from the fishing boat named “Asru kuri”, Coast Guard with the owner of the fishing boat were trying to contact the fishing boat.

MNDF said that the boat was last contacted on Thursday afternoon when it was located about 75 nautical miles west of Raa Alifushi. MNDF also said the boat is 82-foot long, with blue lines drawn across and a shelter in the center painted in blue and green.

Coast Guard has made an appeal the public to contact them through toll free number 191 or numbers 3395981 or 3398898 or send a fax to 3391665 with information regarding the missing boat.
