Passports, electronic items stolen from Maldivian delegation in US

Two out of four officials of a Maldivian delegation visiting the United States to attend an event, have had their passports and several electronic items stolen.

This has been confirmed to Sun Online by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who said that the incident took place yesterday in San Francisco.

He said that it is not yet clear if the items were stolen while the car was parked, or while it was on the road.

He said that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the two officials to the Maldives.

He added that a statement including details of the incident will be issued later today.
