Man sentenced to fifteen years in prison for sexual abuse of stepchild

Ungoofaaru Magistrate Court has sentenced a man to fifteen years’ imprisonment for sexual abuse of his stepchild.

The offender is Ahmed Aslam of Alanaasige, R. Maduvvari. He was also found guilty of possession of pornographic pictures, for which he was sentenced to prison for four months.

The charges made against him were under the regulation pertaining to special protection for children against child abuse.

A report published by the Police last Monday praised the Police of R. Ungoofaaru for their successes in producing child abuse offenders in court. Cases relating to children are investigated by Police in collaboration with the Family and Children Service Center located in R. Dhuvaafaru.
