Employment Tribunal has ordered the re-employment of 21 employees who were dismissed from Audit Office last year.
The order states that the employees were dismissed against the Employment Act, and should therefore be re-employed by Audit Office.
Audit office is also obliged to pay them their due salaries and privileges until today.
Audit Office has claimed that the employees requested to be dismissed; however, Employment Tribunal said in its ruling that the documents and other evidence submitted at the trial provided no support for this claim.
“As there is no evidence that the employees requested to be dismissed, the council has decided that they were dismissed against Article 21 of the Employment Act, and orders to re-employ them according to Article (29), (a,1) of the Employment Act,” reads the ruling.
Following a change in the structure of employment at Audit Office, 21 employees who did not at least have C grade in two subjects in O’level exam were dismissed with three days’ notice in September last year.
