President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appointed Judge of Drug Court, Mohamed Easa Fulhu, to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
President Yameen presented the letter of appointment to Easa today, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office. Before the presentation of the letter of appointment, Easa took the oath of membership of the JSC. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.
Easa will act as the representative in JSC of judges of lower courts. He won the election between four judges with 84 votes. His closest opponent, Drug Court Judge Zubair Mohamed, received 63 votes.
The remaining candidates, Civil Court Judge Ali Naseer and Chief Magistrate of Faafu Magoodhoo Magistrate Court Abdul Sattar Sulaiman, received twelve and seven votes respectively.
