The ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has elected four members to fill vacancies in its governing council.
The members were elected through a secret ballot during a meeting of the council on Wednesday night, PPM said today.
PPM's former parliamentary group leader Moosa Rameez was elected to a general-member seat, Yumna Maumoon, former Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Education was elected to one of the four seats reserved for a female member, Male’ City Council member Zaidul Ameen was elected to the seat reserved for a member of a local council, and Ibrahim Yousuf was elected president of PPM’s Youth Wing, who will also sit at party's governing council.
PPM, the second largest party in the country, has a 35-member governing council.
