Gaza Fund Maldives gathers MVR 5 million

A local initiative to raise funds for the Muslims effected by Israeli aggression in Palestine, Gaza Fund Maldives, has collected MVR 5,198,205.85 by Monday night, the organizers of the campaign religiously, the conservative Adhaalath Party has said.

The Gaza Fund Maldives has placed donation boxes in over 50 islands, in addition to various location around Male’, Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’.

Organizers of the initiative has also decided incorporate their resources to the 33-hour 30-minute fund raising telethon to be held by Maldivian media outlets, set to start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

“We expect the fund to receive a lot of support through the telethon show,” said Ali Zahir, Spokesperson for Gaza Fund Maldives.

Ali Zahir also said that a number of fund-raising activities will continue in Male’ and the atolls for the next few days.
