Israeli tourists in Kaafu Thulusdhoo have departed from the island under police protection.
This follows an operation by Special Operations (SO) police officers to protect the tourists, following intelligence information that the group faced potential danger in the island.
A group of approximately 30 Israel citizens departed from Thulusdhoo in two separate speedboats under police protection around midnight. Their destination remains undisclosed at the time of publication.
Earlier today, a group of Israeli tourists in Thulusdhoo were reported to have obstructed a protest against the Israeli offensive on Palestine.
The protest took place this afternoon on the eastern side of the island, where the Israeli tourists had gathered to surf. Signs condemning Israel, put up on palm trees at the surfing area, were destroyed by the Israelis, which sparked outrage among the protesters.
A team of SO officers arrived shortly afterwards to ensure peace and order in the island.
The police spokesperson told Sun Online that no one has been arrested in relation to the activities against the Israeli tourists in Thulusdhoo, but several individuals have been brought in for various reasons.
“The number of police officers in Thulusdhoo has been increased to ensure the safety of the tourists in the island,” said the police spokesperson.
