Israeli tourists in Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll have obstructed a protest in the island against the Israeli offensive on Palestine.
There are roughly thirty Israeli tourists currently staying in guesthouses in Thulusdhoo.
The protest was held by a group of about ten young Maldivians on the eastern side of the island, where the Israelis had gathered for surfing this afternoon.
A protester told Sun Online that they put up placards condemning Israel for the offensive on Palestine, including signs comparing Israelis with Nazis.
The Israelis, upon their return to the island from surfing, destroyed the signs.
A young man who joined the protest told Sun Online, “Our only intention was to express our views, peacefully. They destroyed the items as soon as they returned from the sea. They should be able to tolerate, shouldn’t they?”
A Thulusdhoo inhabitant told Sun Online that the Israeli tourists have hardly come out from their guesthouse rooms since the protest.
