Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives Wang Fukang has extended congratulations and best wishes to the Maldivian people on the occasion of 49th anniversary of the Independence of Maldives and Eid al-Fitr.
In a message of greeting released today, Ambassador Wang Fukang stated that the relations between Maldives and China have maintained steady and healthy development since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1972, and noted the improved cooperation in areas such as tourism and infrastructure development in recent years.
He also said that 23 million Muslims in China have just spent a holy and joyous Ramadan, and are about to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr in similar fashion to the people of Maldives.
“In China, 10 out of the 56 ethnic groups are Muslims by tradition, and their population is estimated to be 23 million. They have just spent a very holy and joyous Ramazan, and are about to celebrate the Eid with families and friends, same like their brothers and sisters here in Maldives,” read the statement by Ambassador Wang Fukang.
