Lawyer Abdul Hannan Ahmed has passed the evaluation by the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions, for appointment to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as the member representing the public.
Hannan, a civil law expert, received 80.4 percent following an interview conducted by the Committee.
The committee’s decision has been forwarded to the parliament for approval.
The committee stated in its report that the areas considered in the evaluation were education, training, experience, talent, and capability.
Candidates are required to score above 75 percent to pass the evaluation.
The three remaining candidates Ibrahim Ahmed, Zoona Ahmed, and Husham Waheed scored 62 percent, 59 percent, and 59 percent respectively in the committee evaluation.
