The first reading for eight bills proposed by the government have been presented in parliament today.
The bills presented today were the Bill on Voiding the Government Acquisition of Property with Legal Compensation Act tabled by Mahibadhoo MP Ahmed Thorig, the Bill on Voting on Common Consensus tabled by Nilandhoo MP Abdulla Khaleel, the Bill on Amendment to Existing Laws 2014 tabled by Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed, the Bill on Amendment to Human Rights Commission Act tabled by Ungoofaaru MP Jaufar Daood, the Bill on Amendment to Audit Act tabled by Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, the Bill on Amendment to Civil Service Act tabled by Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik, the Bill on Amendment to Anti-Corruption Act tabled by Maafannu-Central MP Asma Rasheed, and the Bill on Amendment to Police Act tabled by Guraidhoo MP Hussain Manik Dhon Manik.
Today’s sitting was adjourned following disagreement amongst members over the composition of the Standing Committees of the parliament.
