MD of STELCO dismissed

Managing Director (MD) of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Hassan Mughnee has been dismissed from his post.

This has been confirmed to Sun Online by a member of the Privatisation Board.

Mughnee was appointed MD of STELCO, a slot given to Jumhooree Party (JP), on 23 January 2014.

Several JP members have been dismissed from government posts following the party’s disaffiliation from the government coalition.

This includes Minister of Transport Ameen Ibrahim, Chairman of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Igbal Adam, and several state and deputy ministers.
