The government has decided to subsidise the 15 apartments in Hulhumale’ designated for children with disabilities, by providing grants to cover the advance payment.
President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online that the purpose of this decision, initiated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, is to lighten the financial burden for families with children with disabilities.
“The government will pay the advance payment of MVR 18,500 for the apartments in Hulhumale’ designated for children with disabilities. The total cost would be MVR 277,500,” said Muaz.
He said that the government will also strive to provide solutions in terms of healthcare and living conditions for children with disabilities.
“The government has decided to provide speech therapy, developmental physiotherapy, and occupational therapy both at Vilimale’ Health Centre which is being developed as a hospital, and at Dhamanaveshi. It has also decided to provide special seating services for children with disabilities at IGMH,” said Muaz.
