A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) to assist in the upgrade of the College of Islamic Studies (Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya), to a university.
College of Islamic Studies Rector Dr Ibrahim Zakariyya and Professor Abdul Aziz Berghout, from IIUM’s Deputy Rector's Office, signed the MoU today, at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
Islamic Ministry said the Malaysian university will provide technical expertise and help train lecturers for the future university.
A team of professors from IIUM yesterday began a series of meetings with 34 staff from the college to discuss the feasibility study, strategic plan and the key performance index required for the upgrade.
A high level committee, comprising of officials form the college, Ministry of Education and President’s Office, has also been assembled to oversee and facilitate the upgrade.
