Large amounts of alcohol confiscated from boat near Male

Police have confiscated large amounts of alcohol from a boat near Male’.

Police spokesperson told Sun Online that the alcohol was found in a boat named ‘Savari 1’ at around 6:30 p.m. during an operation carried out following information received by Police Intelligence.

When police arrived on the boat five Maldivian men were packing alcohol bottles in cases, and all five men have been arrested, said police.

Police further informed that 20 cases containing 240 bottles of alcohol have been confiscated from the boat.

The case is under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service.
