Agreement signed for MVR 22 m project to build jetty in Baarah

The government has signed an agreement with MT Hojgaard regarding the construction of a jetty in Haa Alifu Baarah.

The cost of the project to construct the multi-purpose jetty is MVR 22 million.

A ceremony was held at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure for the signing of this agreement today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that the construction will begin in June.

“This jetty will facilitate development for Baarah. It will also allow more economic development projects in the island,” he said.

He said that the duration of the project is 260 days.

The project includes the establishment of a fuel jetty, a yacht marina, and facilities to transport vehicles.
