Boat runs aground on Maalhendhoo reef

A boat has run aground on the reef on the northern side of Maalhendhoo in Noonu Atoll.

No one was injured in the incident which took place at around 5:00 a.m. today.

Sun Online has been informed by Vice President of Maalhendhoo Council Mohamed Hassan that the boat is a fishing boat from Hoarafushi, named Roshan.

He said that efforts are ongoing by people of Maalhendhoo and nearby islands Landhoo and Maafaru, and police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to refloat the boat.
