MCS begins training of customs brokers

Maldives Customs Service (MCS) has started a four-month training program for customs brokers.

Titled 'Customs Brokers' Training', the training was officially launched by the head of Centre for Customs Exercise Studies, Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdulla Waheed, at a ceremony at the Customs Building in Male’ on Sunday.

Accredited as a certificate level 3 program, the training will be facilitated by local customs officers and experts, and will teach steps for clearing of goods through customs and familiarize the participants on Maldives import-export laws and regulations, along with other laws, regulations and policies related to customs.

The training will consist of modules; Brokers Regulation and Customs Procedures, Valuation Process, Documentation Process, Harmonized Systems. The program will also hear feedback and grievances from brokers to streamline customs procedures and services, Maldives Customs Service said in a statement on Monday.

The training is attended by 36 participants including company employees and individuals involved in the clearing of import-export goods.
