Seven police officers given opportunity to go for hajj to assist pilgrims

Hajj Corporation has given the opportunity to seven police officers to go for hajj this year to assist hajj pilgrims.

Hajj Corporation signed an agreement with police today, regarding allowing a number of police officers to accompany hajj pilgrims every year.

The agreement was signed by Managing Director of Hajj Corporation Yameen Idrees and Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed.

Under this agreement, the number of police officers to accompany pilgrims will be decided by Hajj Corporation each year.

The corporation also gave the opportunity in January 2014 to seven Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officers to go for hajj to assist pilgrims. Travel, accommodation and food for the officers will be taken care of by the corporation.

Yameen Idrees said that the 14 police and MNDF officers will also include one medical officer from each institution.

Hajj Corporation has decided to accommodate 400 pilgrims this year. They will depart for hajj in September.
