Authorities search for two Maldivians missing in Sri Lanka

Authorities have launched search efforts for a mother and her child, residents of Kandy, Sri Lanka, who were reported missing since Friday.

An official from the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Sun Online that the family reported the missing persons to the Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka around dusk on Saturday. The girl is 6 years old, the official said.

“A search effort was launched with support from Kandy police, after the family reported the case to the Sri Lankan Embassy (Maldives High Commission in Sri Lanka),” the Foreign Ministry official said.

Sun Online is aware that the woman walked out of her house after a heated disagreement with family members.
