MP Hamza scores poorest attendance in last session of parliament

Bileidhoo MP Ahmed Hamza scored the poorest attendance to the the last session of the 17th parliament, records have revealed.

MP Hamza attended a single sitting, out of 9 sittings in the last session of the 17th parliament, held from 3 March to 28 April 2014.

Having attended two sittings, four MPs; Kendhoo MP Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, Maduvvari MP Visam Ali, Thoddoo MP Ali Waheed and Hulhu-Meedhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb, hold the second poorest attendance for the last session.

A total of 20 MPs attended all 9 sittings of the last session of the 17th parliament. They include 10 MPs from the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), 3 MPs from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), 3 MPs from Jumhoory Party (JP), Interim leader of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir and Fares-Maathoda MP Ibrahim Mutholib.

PPM MPs who attended all 9 sittings include; Hanimaadhoo MP Mohamed Mujthaz, Inguraidhoo MP Hamdhoon Hameed, Eydhafushi MP Ahmed Saleem, Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim, Isdhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed, Kimbidhoo MP Moosa Rameez, Gan MP Yousuf Abdul Gafoor, Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Maavashu MP Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakuru and Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed.

MDP MPs who attended all sittings are; Ihavandhoo MP Ahmed Abdulla, Kulhudhuffushi-South MP Abdul Gafoor Moosa and Velidhoo MP Ali Mohamed.

JP MPs; Dhidhoo MP Mohamed Sameer, Mathiveri MP Hussain Mohamed and Maamigili MP Gasim Ibrahim also attended all 9 sittings of the last session of the 17th parliament.

Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir, who is serving a 12-month jail sentence from 20 February, was unable to attend a single sitting.
