Police have started taking the suspects arrested in Vaavu Anbaraa last night for partying and using drugs, to Criminal Court for decisions on their detention periods.

Sources have told Sun Online that the party in Anbaraa was attended by about 200 people, of which 79 have been arrested by police.

Sun Online reporter near Criminal Court said that the first to be taken in for detention period hearings were the 19 women.

Police also arrested 59 men including a foreigner, and a girl below the age of 18 during their operation on Friday night wherein they raided Anbaraa, an uninhabited island.

Police said that they raided Anbaraa with a court warrant following information collected by Police Intelligence.

Anbaraa has been leased to Sri Lankan group Dream Ocean since 2004 to be used as a picnic island.
