79 arrested for

Police have arrested 79 people on suspicion of ‘partying’ and using drugs in Anbaraa, an uninhabited island in Vaavu Atoll.

Police said that they went to Anbaraa with a court warrant last night and arrested a total of 79 people with drugs and large sums of money.

The suspects include 59 men including one foreigner, 19 women, and one girl below 18.

Police said that information on last night’s operation will be shared with the public via media soon.
