Transport Minister urges not to politicise Maldivian Red Crescent

Minister of Transport Ameen Ibrahim has advised members of Maldivian Red Crescent to refrain from using the organisation as a means to obtain political advantage.

Minister Ameen made this remark while speaking at the Sixth General Assembly of Maldivian Red Crescent.

“I would like to remind members, in their humanitarian work, to refrain from trying to gain political advantages, as this would cause the public to lose confidence and trust in Maldivian Red Crescent. The organisation’s reputation would suffer. I urge all humanitarian workers to ensure this does not happen,” he said.

Maldivian Red Crescent was established on 16 August 2009 under Maldivian Red Crescent Act 2009/7, to work as an independent body to protect and provide humanitarian assistance to the poor and people in need.
