National University to allow admission on first come, first served basis

National University has decided to allow admission to applicants who meet requirements in the order that application forms are received, instead of basing this decision on merits.

Registrar of National University Aishath Ali announced this while speaking at a press conference to provide information on the university’s new admissions policy.

“We used to allow admission based on merits, that is, once the deadline for submitting applications passes, we take the forms to a selection committee and allow admission based on merits. With the new policy however, we will confirm admission continuously as we receive application forms, for those who meet the requirements,” she said.

She said that once all slots for each course are filled, some applicants will be put on reserve as some students drop out after being allowed admission.

The university has also introduced sending acceptance or rejection letters via email.
