Today’s sitting of the parliament to approve a Prosecutor General (PG) and a Governor to the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), has been delayed due to a lack of quorum.
The sitting was scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., but was postponed by the Speaker of the Parliament to 10:00 a.m. Parliament regulation requires at least 19 MPs to be in attendance for parliament to have quorum.
On the agenda are debates for committee reports on electing a Member to the Police Integrity Commission (PIC), electing Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and electing the Prosecutor General, following which, parliament will go into Committee of the Whole House to review Bills on Amendments to the Airport Service Charge Act and Amendments to the Act on Export and Import.
