President conveys condolences to Dr Razee

President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent his condolences to the family of Dr Ahmed Razee.

Dr Razee died at the age of 59 at around 2:00 a.m. today while being treated for heart disease at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Dr Razee has served the health sector for more than 30 years.

The president in his message recognised Dr Razee’s sincere services to the government, especially to the health sector.

Dr Razee began his career in the health sector on 21 March 1984 as Senior House Officer in Medicine at Central Hospital.

He received the National Award in 2006 for his services to the health sector.

Notable recent services provided by Dr Razee include his involvement, by collaborating with media stations, in programs to increase health awareness; his efforts to encourage and develop traditional medicine; and his contribution to treatment of diabetes patients through the establishment and management of the Diabetes and Cancer Society.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
