Supreme Court issues decree to establish magistrate court in Kalaidhoo

Supreme Court has issued a decree to establish a magistrate court in Laamu Kalaidhoo.

Supreme Court said in its decree issued today that Kalaidhoo has been declared by the president an inhabited island which is separate from Isdhoo, and as per Article 63 of the Judicature Act, a magistrate court must be established in every inhabited island of the Maldives.

Supreme Court referred to Article 141 of the Constitution which states that the Supreme Court shall be the highest authority for the administration of justice in the Maldives, and said that the decision to establish a magistrate court in Kalaidhoo as per Article 63 of the Judicature Act was made unanimously by all judges of the court.
