Former defence chief nominated High Commissioner to Pakistan

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has nominated to the parliament, former Chief of Defence Force Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel as the Maldives High Commissioner accredited to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Major General (Rtd) Moosa Ali Jaleel is credited with having played a pivotal role against the mercenaries who invaded Maldives on 3 November 1988. He was appointed Chief of Defence Force in November 2008, retired in February 2012, and has recently joined the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
