Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual abuse of two minors

Kulhudhuffushi magistrate court has sentenced a 78-year-old man to 10 years in prison for the repeated sexual abuse of two 7 year old minors.

The man sentenced has been revealed as Mohamed Hussain of Kosheege, Haa Dhaalu Kuhudhiffushi.

In its sentence, the court said that based on testimony from witnesses presented by the State and from the defendant's own testimony, Mohamed Hussain was convicted of abusing the two children on several occasions during 2012.

This is the defendant's first criminal conviction. He was convicted under the law governing special penalties for offenders of child abuse.
