Elections Commission has said that the preliminary results of the Parliamentary Election held on Saturday will be announced at 2:30 p.m. today.
The commission said that preparations are under way to announce the results this afternoon.
Results announced by media show that the government coalition has won majority in the parliament.
Most number of seats was won by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), second most by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), third most by Jumhooree Party (JP), and fourth most by Maldives Development Alliance (MDA). Also, Adhaalath Party won one seat and independent candidates five seats.
Elections Commission has postponed the announcement of the preliminary results several times. It first said that the results would be announced yesterday (Sunday) morning, then yesterday afternoon, then yesterday night. Last night the commission said that the results would be announced some time today.
