Elections Commission has postponed the announcement of the preliminary results of the Parliamentary Election held yesterday, to tomorrow.
The commission earlier announced that efforts were ongoing to announce the results tonight at 10:00 p.m.
Media Officer of Elections Commission Aishath Shifana said that a time has not been decided yet, for the announcement of the preliminary results tomorrow.
Elections Commission said that the delay was due to necessary documents not having yet arrived from some islands.
Results announced by media show that the government coalition has won majority in the parliament.
Most number of seats was won by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), second most by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), third most by Jumhooree Party (JP), and fourth most by Maldives Development Alliance (MDA). Also, Adhaalath Party won one seat and independent candidates five seats.
